[25 Nov 2005|11:57am] [ music | The Cure- Just Like Heaven ] it's funny. it was supposed to snow today and i woke up thinking, "please don't snow". and when it didn't, i thought, "where's the snow?" mummy and daddy went to russia before the weekend and bought me: a little russian doll pin, an "i love russia" teeshirt with a heart of it, a little box with some famous building on it, some christmas decorations, russian apple juice and a "learn to speak italian" box set. apart from that i haven't done anything special apart from crying on two friends' shoulders last night, kind of protesting and protesting until i knew what i was saying was the opposite of how i feel just like that bit in Mona Lisa Smile when kirsten dunst cries to maggie gyllenhall. it was just like that. it's a terribly long story, but i'm glad i got those feelings out and i'm glad i have two friends i live with to talk to about that stuff. yesterday my tutor took me to see this. it's one of the best movies i've ever seen and i really want the dvd for christmas. i love german cinema, only second to french cinema. i might do my oral topic on it, but my other german teacher is making me do "heidi klum". but who really cares about supermodels? they are boring. i've been seriously thinking about oxford, but i'm baffled at which college or course to choose. i'm being tugged in every direction- french, english, classics... all to apply to study their course. to be honest i think i'd love to study english lit but the course at oxford is all about the medieval (i think), which... sounds uninteresting but i'm going to find that out for myself once i get some reading time this christmas holidays. [27 Oct 2005|11:49am] [ music | Naked Raygun- Vanilla Blue ] it's my birthday today! it was really nice, i had chocolate birthday cake and khao soi because it's chinese tradition to eat noodles on your birthday because they are long, to symbolise longevity, and because they are gold, to symbolise prosperity. cute huh? it's really cool to be seventeen! happy halloween everyone. [25 Oct 2005|08:38am] [ music | Jawbreaker- Save Your Generation ] it's half-term! today is the day i meet my old best friend holly because she's coming over for dinner. it's going to be so weird since i haven't seen her for a really long time and we were so close. i mean, she was my first kiss! we ran marathons together and chugged fanta and coke whilst everyone chanted and it fell down our tops and left us soaking. we obsessed over the lion king and made up dance routines to the bangles' eternal flame and gloria estefan's dr beat. just as i'm typing this she arrived so i better go! it's my birthday on thursday! [15 Oct 2005|07:23am] [ music | The Dwarves- Bleed On ] i came home for the weekend. my room at boarding school is really nice: i've got this gold flower lamp and little flower fairylights around my bed, covered in a gold bedspread and i've got all my perfumes and my flower makeup box laid out on my armoire. i've spent most of the term playing rhianna and things like the cure whilst slowly making my way through homework, reading zines and talking with my friends in my room. [02 Sep 2005|09:27pm] [ music | Destiny's Child- Cater 2 U ] me and kris went to the park with remy and david where they played football with local kids and i called yasmin for the first time in about a year, changed into some pink nikes and soaked up the shade on a picnic bench with, "the real me is a southern girl with her levis on and an open heart" rotating round my head. i came home in a daze having fallen into an unintentional sleep on the bus and ate fruit mentos, cheetos and haribo banana foam for dinner. and then i called david to say sorry for being moody, because i was, and i made him laugh and stuff. i almost love him by now. too bad i have to go back to boarding school in a whole different country and a whole different world next week.

[02 Sep 2005|03:53am] [ music | Portishead- Glory Box ] tonight ellie and i rode bikes across these sand dune hills above the beach really late. it was so dark and scary. we couldn't see anything and we didn't know where we were until we got to these stairs that lead down to the beach and i realised how high up we were. we got to some weird castle thing and chucked our bikes on the grass and just lay there and watched the sky and i got bitten all over. then we stopped at a garage on the way back and blew 25 on the closer dvd and some banana flavoured snacks plus cheetos. [01 Sep 2005|02:47am] [ music | 7 Seconds- Good To Go ] sonja and ellie have visiting me this week. we've been going to amsterdam, the beach at night for trampolines, restaurants and the movies to see the skeleton key. last night david was at the beach too when we were buying candy, but we only spoke for a few minutes. i told him i didn't see him as much as i wanted to and he got this weak look in his eyes. this one night sonja and i rode bicycles to the beach at night and listened to patrick wolf on the sand. we gave each other our complete love histories and went on simulators and dance machines at the arcade, kinda tipsy. then we went for pizza. at the pizza shop we met a really cute boy called sufjan with cool shoes and i got his number. we've been back twice since to buy slices and so i can smile at him. i see him tonight at 9!

[26 Aug 2005|05:20pm] [ music | Elliott Smith- Angeles ] last night kris and i went for chinese food (loempia, cha siew noodles and fernandes soda!) and took a late train to amsterdam for some late night shopping on pc hoofstraat. when we got back to the hague after midnight, it was hot but there was lightening and the whole night seemed really slow and light and beautiful. i met david and drank chocolate milkshake in burger king at central station. we took the last bus to my house very late and layed in my bed holding hands, snoozing and talking until it almost got light outside and he had to go home to get dressed for work. there are ghosts all over holland, especially where i live near the beach. [25 Aug 2005|11:33am] [ music | Blood For Blood- So Common So Cheap ] 20 minutes ago i called the school to get my gcse results. the woman on the phone goes, "ooh an exciting set of results here.." and it made me a little excited. then she reels off my results and my heart starts beating even faster as she reads each one out. English lit A* English lang A* French A* German A* History A Business A Maths A Latin A* Greek A Science A* by then end i can hardly believe it and my mouth is hanging open and i run down the stairs squealing and shrieking to tell my mum. i'm going to my dad's office to meet him and lunch with him and tell him the news. i'm still trying to think of the best way to tell him. [21 Aug 2005|05:20pm] [ music | X- White Girl ] today i went shopping on pc hoofstraat in amsterdam with kris. i got back at around eight in the evening with cute chanel glass pearl earrings, and met david at central station and sat on a bench in the evening sun (it was bright all day) where the bicycle stands and gangs of friends are, laughing, being shy with each other. then he took me to the bus stop and kissed me and i went home and we had won tons and birthday noodles (chinese tradition) and strawberry cream pavlova to celebrate my brother's birthday, and took photographs of the family.
